IN THIS SECTION
NEAT Academy Trust is the admission authority for our school.
A full copy of our admissions arrangements can be found in our Admissions Policies in the policies section of our website.
Applications for entry to Reception and in-year admissions up to Year 6 should be made on Newcastle City Council’s school application form and returned to Newcastle City Council.
Parents are advised to check the Council’s website for deadline dates for Reception applications. For more information on admissions please refer to Newcastle City Council’s website.
You have the right of appeal if you are refused a place. The deadline for appeals for entry to Reception in September 2024 is 17 May 2024 to enable your appeal to be heard during the Summer Term; appeals received after this date may not be heard until after the summer holidays. Further information is available on Newcastle City Council’s website.
There is a right for people to raise objections to the admissions policy agreed by 28 February each year with the Schools Adjudicator. See the Schools Adjudicator website (Office of the Schools Adjudicator) for more information on how to do this. Objections to the admissions arrangements for 2025/26 must be made by 15th May 2024.
We have clear procedures for admitting new pupils to the school in order to ensure that their needs are fully understood prior to admission. We also aim to ensure that all pupils receive appropriate support on entry and are all treated equally.
It is vital that any children transferring to Central Walker Church of England Primary School are fully supported. This requires a considerable amount of preparation since each individual’s needs must be thoroughly assessed in order to offer full entitlement to the curriculum. Therefore, in certain circumstances, the school may need planned time prior to admission in order to ensure that appropriate strategies are in place to cater for exceptional needs and allow full access to educational entitlement.
New parents are requested to contact the School Office to arrange a visit with the Key Stage Phase Leader prior to admission.
Admission Policy for Playgroup and Nursery
Applications for admission to the playgroup or nursery should be made to the school. The targeted age group for nursery classes attached to schools is pupils who have reached their third birthday on or before 31st August of the year they are admitted.
Places are allocated according to the NEAT Nursery Admission Policy and the NEAT Playgroup Admission Policy in the policies section of our website. Application forms are available from the school and returnable to the school.
The Playgroup has to be fully funded therefore there is a cost per session payable in advance. (Please note we review this charge each year). The Playgroup can also provide places for pupil who are eligible for the “two year old offer”.
The term after a child is 3 years old, places are funded by the government through the local authority and therefore free to parents/carers.
